Against her expectations, Tilly is enjoying the guides’ joint campfire with the scouts – but now it’s the scout’s turn to do a ‘stunt’…

Roz and Phoebe and I agreed that the guides had done such a good stunt that we couldn’t see how the scouts could do one that was better. Not that it was a competition, exactly, but it’s always nice to know who’s best and that it’s you.

One of the scout leaders stood up and said that we’d be pleased to hear that their stunt didn’t involve any water, and they’d learned it from some Canadian scouts they’d met at a jamboree somewhere, and it was very simple and it involved an eating competition. Then he said that maybe we thought that would put us at a disadvantage because boys eat so much more than girls (and Judy yelled ‘don’t you believe it!’ and everyone laughed). The scout leader went on to say that he wasn’t worried about this in our case though, because the competition was to eat an apple and he’d heard that we had a champion fruit eater in our troop (that’s what he called us) so actually he was a bit worried that the scouts might not win.

Well, Carola shouted out ‘Roz!’ and then all the guides started shouting ‘Roz – Roz – Roz’ too because she was quite famous for eating 42 pieces of orange for breakfast one day, and Roz had to get up and go and stand with the scout leader.

Then he said sorry about this, but seeing she was a champion fruit eater, they were going to put up their champion fruit eater as well and he was a bit bigger than Roz. In fact he was a Young Leader and much older than Roz, and lots bigger. I thought that wasn’t fair, but Phoebe said it was OK, Roz could beat anyone when it came to eating fruit.

Then the scout leader held out two big red apples and let Roz choose first, and then he gave the other one to the scout young leader who he told us was called Mike. The scouts were beginning to get a bit excited already and started cheering Mike on even though the competition hadn’t even begun, so the scout leader told them to quieten down. Then he went on to say that the rules of the competition were that both competitors had to be blindfolded, and it was a simple race to see who could finish their apple first, and to encourage them we were all supposed to cheer our team on. So we all got ready to cheer Roz and you could see the scouts were all getting ready to cheer Mike as well, while he tied Roz’s necker over her eyes and Marilyn tied Mike’s necker over his. Then the scout leader said ‘Ready – set – Go!’ and the scouts started screaming their heads off and we screamed our heads off too, and Roz was eating her apple at top speed, so little bits of apple were spilling out of her mouth and down her chin. I was cheering away and yelling at the top of my voice, and so was everyone else, so you couldn’t hear a thing.

I looked across at Mike to see how he was doing, and he was taking leisurely bites out of his apple as though there was no competition going on at all! At first I thought he’d given up because Roz was beating him, but then I realised that this was the stunt. It was all to make a fool out of Roz!

Of course now all the guides (except the ones like Carola who were just laughing) were yelling ‘stop’ to Roz, but all the scouts were shouting and bellowing as though the competition was still going on, so Roz couldn’t hear what we were saying, and she was still biting and chewing and swallowing as fast as she could. Now even Marilyn was laughing. And Mike had pulled off his necker and was just looking at his apple choosing where to take the next bite!

It was so horrible having people laughing at Roz when she was trying so hard to win the competition for us that I couldn’t bear it. I rushed over to her and pulled her necker off so she could see what was going on, and everybody was laughing and even though they were clapping I thought it was AWFUL and NOT FUNNY AT ALL and even CRUEL.

The scout leader clapped Roz on the back and said she was a good sport and gave her a scout camp badge, but even so it was a horrible trick. I pulled Roz back to our place in the circle and what was also horrible was that I was nearly crying and the others could see that, but I couldn’t help it. I HATE people playing TRICKS.

At first Roz didn’t really know what had happened, so Phoebe explained, and Roz thought it was quite funny too. I couldn’t understand it. I couldn’t understand any of it.

But everyone else thought it was funny. Especially Carola, who kept going on and on about how fit Mike was.

It was HORRIBLE.

OK...husband admitted to hospital through emergency...pancreatitis. I'm on the road again.

Embarassing.  It is embarassing that KLAC killed the message boards.  Not a broadcast to the members on why, not a warning, nothing.  Then again, what can you expect from a management that allows Vic Jacobs to pollute the airwaves.  KLAC is a sinking ship that my be seeing its last days.  With the economy in the toilet, Clear channel may look to cut its losses like Ziff-Davis has done with some of their magazines.  I guess they are blaming the board members for Kobe not wanting to talk with the Loose Cannons.  I guess the message board is responsible for playing horrible interviews over and over.  Successful stations don't keep making programming changes the way KLAC seems to be doing.  Don't you see the signs.  Joe McDonnell, Hacksaw.  This station is on the way out.  They are cutting cost to sell the station.  When you tune in 3 months from now it will be Korean talk radio.  Chances are the laker contract is the only reason the station is currently operating. The Loose Cannons were commercial free because they are having a hard time finding sponsors.  That's what they get for letting Vic Jacobs pimp his crappy band on the show.  I said it before why should he get free advertisement while they want to charge others.  Don Martin keeps searching for the right formula.  The right formula is for you to leave the station Don Martin.  You are the Mancow of station managers.  Are you taking any blame for what you have done?  Not only to the stations but Los Angeles Sports Talk Radio in general.  Vic Jacobs is only the instrument, you are the destructor.  Maybe Don Martin's job should have term limits.  At least we are at the end of the Bush error(yes I spelled it like that on purpose).  For the record, Ralph you still suck.  Don Martin you get the Ralphie

Hi there bowlspace, srry I have not been post lately but have been very busy. For the last few months I have been really Imporving my game alot. for years I have had a problem with fast feet. but that is slowly becoming a good thing that I can handal. Now I just hope to get my speed under contral becouse I have lots of it. For the past year I have been In the 400 to 485 which is not bad. But I can do so much better and I know I can. Since I am in a two leagues with in a weeks time I will bowl a 900. Last night night when I bowled I bowled a 462 and night before a 421.

Tribute to the Troops is off and running, and I am so excited!

I have been asking to come on this tour for years, but it never seemed to work out. This year the scheduling finally worked out with me being on Raw and all now.

The plane ride here was awesome, a bit rough, but awesome. Just a small sacrifice for me to give back to the greatest fighting force in the world. my privilege and pleasure.

Gonna be an experience of a lifetime.  I am gonna drink a lot of Red Bull so I can soak up the whole experience, keep going as long as I can.

I am going be as much of a fan as the servicemen and women will be come show day! They have been so excited to see us so far, but they need to understand we are just as humbled and excited to spend time with them as they are with us.

It’s not their pleasure, it is ours!
